GFWC Nebraska Sisters,
I am honored to serve as the 68th President of the Nebraska Federation of Women’s Clubs. My theme for this administration is “Serving Today: Improving Tomorrow.” I am proud of the strong, dedicated members that we have throughout Nebraska and the service they are providing. Let us continue to raise our hands to volunteer. I am hoping that the theme reminds us of how important our volunteer service is, not only for the impact it has on our community now, but how it also forms a foundation that will continue to improve our communities in the future. As GFWC Second Vice President Susan Gettys so eloquently stated at our NFWC Officers installation:
“Service begins with our hands — the work we do, the help we give, and the responsibilities we carry.
But it is guided by our hearts — the compassion, dedication, and love that make our service meaningful.
When we serve with both hands and hearts, we do more than meet needs — we create lasting change.”
My President’s Project will focus on “Supporting Mental Health with an emphasis on early childhood mental health and suicide prevention.” We will be providing resources on how your clubs can support efforts in this area and will look forward to seeing what projects emerge across Nebraska.
Thanks to all of the Officers, Board members and Club Presidents for lending their time and talent to our state organization for these next two years. The state federation does not work without you, and I really appreciate all you do!
Barbara Jackson
NFWC President
